Vision
ACC advisors empower students to create academic plans that support life and career goals.
Mission
Our advising model is dedicated to providing every student with personalized, proactive, and holistic support. Through onboarding, academic planning, and resource connection, we strive to create a seamless and supportive experience that empowers students to achieve their educational, career, and personal goals.
Explanation of ACC’s Advising Model
Alamance Community College uses an advising model designed to support students throughout their academic journey. Students are assigned an advisor based on their area of study. Students in University Transfer, Business, Arts and Sciences, and Health and Public Services academic divisions are assigned a Staff Advisor. Students in Applied Engineering, Agriculture, and Skilled Trades academic division are assigned a Faculty Advisor within their program area.
Advisors serve as a consistent point of contact for students from application to graduation. They support academic planning, provide proactive outreach when students experience academic challenges, and connect students to resources and support services. Advisors also support both initial and ongoing career exploration, ensuring students are in a career pathway aligned with their interests. Advisors offer encouragement, motivation, and holistic, wrap-around support, serving as a connector who helps keep students on track for success and completion.
