Alamance Community College is invested in full compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the ADA Amendments of 2008, and the ADA revisions of 2010. The College ensures that policies, procedures, programs, activities and facilities are appropriately accessible to students. The College focuses on the student as an individual and works toward equal opportunity, full integration into the campus environment, physical accessibility, and the provision of reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids and services to students.
Accessibility Services:
Federal law prohibits the College from making pre-admission inquiries about disabilities. It is the responsibility of the student to self-disclose the disability to Acessibility Services, provide appropriate documentation, and engage in an interactive process with the Coordinator of Acessibility Services. Students are strongly encouraged to begin the documentation process at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester or course. Information provided by a student is voluntary and appropriate confidentiality is maintained.
Acessibility Services information can be accessed on the College’s website at www.alamancecc.edu. An appointment with the Coordinator of Acessibility Services is required for accommodations and/or services to begin.
Access to Achievement:
Access to Achievement is a state initiative to make community college accessible and inclusive for students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, with the goal of providing vocational training and employability skills that lead to competitive employment. Access to Achievement provides support to students through person centered planning, creating a network of support, and targeting educational and career goals. Documentation is not required for eligibility.
Information can be accessed on the College’s website at www.alamancecc.edu to learn more about Access to Achievement and explore if this support is appropriate for you.
Assistive Technology
